For Mom’s Teachers and Anyone Raising Littles- You’re in the Right Place

Between busy schedules, big emotions and short attention spans, teaching and parenting can feel overwhelming. As both educators and parents we are all trying to find the perfect balance of doing what’s best for our kiddos but also while taking care of ourselves in the process. It’s not an easy task, but teachers and parents are strong, capable and will do  just about anything to see our children succeed and thrive! I’m here to help you along your journey and make things feel easier and more manageable so that you can be your best!

Some days it may feel like you have all the ideas and other days you’re just trying to get through they day without losing your mind. I get it, I’ve been there and I’m still there! We are building a community together to help enrich our children and create ease and less stress in our lives. At Bright Start, I’m going to help guide you in what to teach, whether at home or in a classroom setting. We are going to get rid of the pressure to “have the perfect lesson” or have everything looking “Pinterest” worthy and focus more on balancing learning and real life. I will give you the tools to combat short attention spans and kids who are struggling to listen in positive ways that make everyone’s day a little bit easier.

Hey there, I’m Victoria! I have been a Fire and Medical Dispatcher for our local fire department for 4.5 years and love having the opportunity to help others through this full-time career. Before arriving at this point, I worked in education for 10 years! Those years ranged from early childhood education to kindergarten prep and elementary school. Although I made a career change into a field I truly love, I am still very passionate about education. In addition to being a dispatcher, life at home is crazy busy, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am a first responder wife to my husband, Mike, of 12 years, who has been a firefighter for the past 8 years. We have two amazing kiddos, Charlotte and Scottie! You can usually catch me at the softball or baseball fields cheering them on or volunteering at their school in my free time. With Mike being a firefighter, I am often juggling schedules and activities while solo parenting three days a week when he is gone. Throughout my years in education and becoming a parent myself, I noticed a few things that I have become deeply passionate about. As an educator, especially in the elementary setting, I could see the shortcomings of early childhood education and the potential for students to fall behind rather quickly if they were not equipped with the basic skills needed to begin kindergarten. I saw how much more difficult it could make a child’s day as they adjusted to full-time school life, and I want to help make that transition easier for them. As a parent, I understand the worries of:
“Will my child be ready?”
“Do they know what they need to know?”
“Is the preschool I’m sending them to preparing them for success in kindergarten?”

With our daughter, although she was academically on track to start kindergarten, being part of the COVID shutdown meant she had very little true Pre-K experience. Because of that, she struggled with separation anxiety and spent the first part of the year highly stressed. On the other hand, our son had no social anxieties but did have a significant speech delay, and I was beyond concerned about him falling even further behind.

Rest assured, with a little extra care and support, both of them thrived. Our daughter worked through her separation anxiety, and our son is flourishing, finishing kindergarten with strong reading skills and reading just about anything he sees!

I realized that with my skills and experience, I can help ease some of those burdens for both parents and teachers, and I’m excited to dive right in and do just that! It was so difficult to watch student’s struggle without structure and being placed in an environment that was more schedule heavy. I can remember being the overwhelmed new teacher who is trying her best but barely staying afloat and needing a guiding hand to get through that first year. Those seasoned teachers were able to help me understand what we need is not “the perfect classroom or lesson” but simple, realistic learning. Being both a mom, educator and now a working parent, I know parents and teachers need support that actually fits our real and busy lives.
